What is a SMTP Server?

SMTP stands for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol, which is defined as a protocol used to send messages between servers. Most of the E-mail Systems use SMTP to send their messages through.


What is a POP3 Server?
POP3 stands for Postal Office Protocol which is defined as a protocol used to retrieve e-mail from e-mail servers. Most of the e-mail applications use these protocol to retrieve messages across the Internet.

What is the Incoming (POP3) and the outgoing (SMTP) servers for ICE Networks?
Both are mailhost.icepr.com

Can I have more than one e-mail under my account?
Yes, but these e-mail's do not work as individual accounts but as a group. This is know as e-mail aliases where one account has several e-mail's that are received in one e-mail box.


Connection & Configuration

What is a username or login name?

The username is the name that identifies you as a user of a connection. This username is always written in lowercases and must have between 4 or 8 characters including numbers or letters, but never spaces.

Is the username the same as the e-mail?
The E-mail and the username does not have to be the same. Although our company assigns the username along with the domain (icepr.com) for the e-mail's accounts of our users.

Does the password to access the Internet is the same that e-mail?
Yes, ICE Networks assigns the same password to the connection as for the e-mail If any chance they are not working properly, or you prefer to change it, please contact us at 787.764.1234.

What is a DNS?
DNS stands for Domain Name Server. Is an numeric address that your computer uses to set up a connection in the Internet

What are the DNS numbers for ICE Networks?
ICE Networks has two (2) DNS numbers:

Primary DNS : 196.12.160.1
Secondary DNS: 196.12.160.5

What number I use to the Internet through ICE Networks?
The number is 764.1283

Do ICE Networks have connections numbers out of San Juan Area?
Not at the moment, but it is part of our plans in the near future.

Can I connect more than one computer with my Internet account at the same time?
You can gain access from different computers to your account, but due security reasons our system is designed to allow only one connection at a time. This way we try to avoid that unauthorized persons gain access to accounts and could log on.


Troubleshooting

What if my connection speed is too slow?
If you encounter this type of difficulty, it may be that : A. Problems in the telephone lines or B. Configuration Errors on the Modem. You must try to disconnect and reconnect. If the situation persists, please contact our Tech Support as soon as you can, calling 764.1234

What if the computer is not answering?
Verify that the number that appears in the screen window Connect be one of the followings: 764-1283 or *70,764-1234(*70 is in case you have call waiting service) If the number is different from those two (2) press the Dial Properties button and make sure that it looks like the one illustrated here.
Note: If your number is connected to a switch board and you need to dial a number to gain access to calls (generally used #9), write that number in the space for: To access an outside line, first dial__ for local.

What if I get a message of Error with the Password?
First verify that you have not set accidentally the Caps Lock in the keyboard. If that is the case try to reconnect after setting Caps Lock off. If you still have problems connecting, please call our Tech Support as soon as you can, calling 764.1234

I can connect but I can't get my e-mail?
Verify that your E-mail is correctly configured. Click here to compare with our instructions or call our Tech Support at 764.1234.
